Ed Sheeran to sponsor local team Ipswich Town’s shirts from 2021-22

The shirts of both the men’s and women’s will feature the title of Sheeran’s albums, “+-=÷x” below the word tour. With regards to what this means, the 30-year-old said: “All will be revealed in time.”

Sheeran is a boyhood fan of Ipswich, who play in the third tier of English football and last played in the Premier League in 2002.

The deal is an initial one-year contract for the 2021-22 season.

Why is he sponsoring Ipswich?

Sheeran is a supporter of Ipswich, his local football club. In 2015, he described Suffolk, the county Ipswich is in, as “very much where I call home”.

He has a box at Portman Road and has been pictured at several Ipswich games over the years, including an East Anglia derby against Norwich City in 2018.

Sheeran has made several donations to projects in Ipswich, including to the hospital, and held an auction to raise money for a playground for kids with special educational needs and disabilities in 2009.
